WebTL,DR: Dawnguard is a huge missed opportunity because the ending is the same either way. You can supposedly choose between the Vampires and the Dawnguard, but ultimately the story is just you having to help Serana against Harkon. That said yes, Serana's a really cool character and follower. I just wish you didn't have to work with her every time.
