WebJan 3, 2024 · Get a reamer for lengthening forcing cones. Put the barrels in a vise. Attach the reamer to a large T handle, put some cutting oil in the forcing cone area and on the reamer. Run the reamer in the chamber end and start cutting by hand. The reamer will pretty much stop cutting when the old forcing cone is gone. "Rifled" Foster-type slugs are made to shoot through a smooth bore and do well in them, whereas sabot slugs are made to shoot through a rifled choke tube, or even a rifled barrel, and do very well through those.

I can't speak specifically to Rossi, but the old modified choke shotguns of the 40s and 50s (long before slug barrels) handled slugs just fine. many deer were harvested with those old shotguns.
